The work of the FPC focuses on fundamental and applied research in high-yield plantations throughout the Southeastern US and Latin America. Currently, this lab is focused on the site-specific response of stands to weed control and fertilization.

The diverse physiographic and edaphoclimatic gradients found in Virginia have yielded equally diverse forests. Centuries of anthropogenic influence have only added to this complexity. There is a need to test the efficacy of adaptive management techniques in mitigating the increasing pressures these systems are facing.
